Project-Based Assessment Philosophy

When students are immersed in learning & given the opportunity to display knowledge with creativity, the success of any classroom is dynamically improved.  Below is an example of a typical project in my class but please feel free to send any questions &/or feedback you may have.

The Infomercial Revolution!

In this  project, students will be asked to create a video that spotlights an Industrial Revolution innovation utilizing actual advertising techniques.  The result is a memorable learning experience that the students become highly involved in & eventually, proud of!

Sample Informericals

It is one thing to read about effective advertising techniques...but a much better experience to see these techniques in action!  Before students begin planning in their groups, we watch a collection of infomercials that I scoured the internet for.  Needless to say, the class' reactions to them are PRICELESS!

Daily Task Log

In projects like these, it can sometimes be easy for students to coast by & let others do a majority of the work.  With that in mind, I assign a project manager for every group project who oversees the assignments & meets with me daily.  In addition, I  have each member complete a daily project log.  Like anything else in the classroom, what gets monitored gets done!
